MLS: Colorado 1, Real Salt Lake 1 (tie)

COMMERCE CITY, Colo., May 10 (UPI) -- Jack Stewart and Pablo Mastroeni accidentally deflected shots into their own nets Thursday -- an MLS first -- leaving Real Salt Lake and Colorado tied 1-1.

Stewart's blunder gave Colorado a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute and Mastroeni returned the favor in the 15th. No MLS game had ever ended in a 1-1 tie with both scores coming on own goals. They were the first own goals in the league this season.

The first goal came as the ball was crossed through the Salt Lake box. Goalkeeper Nick Rimando lunged out and deflected the ball away, but it struck Stewart's leg and bounced back into the net.

With Salt Lake on the attack later in the half, Freddie Adu sent the ball into the Colorado box and it was deflected by Mastroeni past goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul.

Colorado is 2-2-2 for the season, while Salt Lake is still looking for its first win at 0-2-3.
