PRAGUE, Czech Republic, May 10 (UPI) -- Victoria Azarenka, a 17-year-old from Belarus, beat No. 5 seed Nathalie Dechy of France 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 Thursday in the second round of the Prague Open.
Dechy was the highest seed playing Thursday, leaving only two of the original eight seeds in the tennis tournament's draw.
Sixth-seeded Akiko Morigami of Japan beat unseeded Milagros Sequera of Venezuela 6-1, 6-3. France's Camille Pin topped Austrian Yvonne Meusburger 6-4, 6-4. Slovakian qualifier Dominika Cibulkova beat Czech qualifier Andrea Hlavackova 6-1, 6-3.
In Friday's quarterfinals, top-seeded Frenchwoman Marion Bartoli goes against Slovakian Jarmila Gajdosova, Morigami plays Pin, German Julia Schruff meets Czech qualifier Klara Zakopalova and Azarenka meets Cibulkova.
The tournament's eventual winner will make $21,140.
