MOSCOW, May 8 (UPI) -- Three teams, one from the National Hockey League and two from the European Champions Cup, face off in Europe next year for the Victoria Cup.

The trophy, named for the Victoria Skating Rink in Montreal where the first organized hockey game was played in 1875, will be contested in September 2008 in Europe.

The hockey tournament will be the first-ever held on European soil with teams from the NHL and Europe, the International Ice Hockey Federation said.
