MLB: Atlanta 3, San Diego 2

ATLANTA, May 8 (UPI) -- Andruw Jones knocked in the go-ahead run with an eighth-inning single Tuesday night, as the Atlanta Braves rallied to beat the San Diego Padres, 3-2.

Jones ended an 0-for-21 streak with an RBI double in the sixth inning. He also drew a walk.

Atlanta has won four of its last six games.

Mike Gonzalez (2-0) pitched a scoreless eighth to get the victory, and Rafael Soriano pitched the ninth to earn his third save.

Anthony Lerew made his first major league start for the Braves and did not factor in the decision. Recalled from Triple-A Richmond to replace Mark Redman in the rotation, Lerew allowed two runs on two hits, with a pair of walks and seven strikeouts over six innings.

Heath Bell (0-1) suffered the loss, and his first blown save, after failing to hold a 2-1 lead in the eighth.
