MLB: San Diego 4, Atlanta 2

ATLANTA, May 7 (UPI) -- Chris Young gave up only two hits in six innings and the San Diego bullpen allowed only one base runner Monday night, as the Padres beat Atlanta, 4-2.

Young (4-2) gave up two runs, while striking out eight and walking two.

Adrian Gonzalez homered and scored twice for the Padres, who have won three straight and five of six.

Trevor Hoffman pitched a perfect ninth for his ninth save.

Chuck James (3-3) worked 3 2/3 innings for Atlanta, giving up three hits and two runs while walking four.

Chris Woodward had the only two Atlanta hits off Young. The Braves had only three hits in the game.
