SAN DIEGO, May 2 (UPI) -- Marcus Giles doubled home two runs to finish off a five-run fourth inning Wednesday and San Diego went on to defeat Washington 7-3.
The Padres won two out of three from the Nationals, who have yet to win a series this season.
San Diego trailed by a run entering the fourth, but Adrian Gonzalez drew a walk off Mike Chico (2-3) and scored on Khalil Green's triple. Josh Bard and Mike Cameron then walked to load the bases and Kevin Kouzmanoff drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
Pinch-hitter Geoff Blum delivered a bloop double to score Bard and Giles followed with his two-run double.
Doug Brocail (2-0) benefited from the big inning to get the win while pitching the third and fourth innings. He replaced starter Clay Hensley, who suffered a pulled groin while breaking to cover first base on what turned out to be a foul ball.
