BOSTON, May 3 (UPI) -- Manny Ramirez hit a game-winning solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning Thursday as Boston edged Seattle 8-7.

It was his second homer of the game. Overall, Ramirez had two runs, two hits and three RBI.

Julio Lugo had one hit and two RBI, and David Ortiz had two hits and one RBI. Wily Mo Pena had one run and four hits, while both Jason Varitek and Dustin Pedroia had one RBI for the Red Sox, who have split their last four games.

The winner was reliever Brendan Donnelly (1-1).

J.C. Romero earned his first save of the season after starter Daisuke Matsuzaka gave up seven earned runs in five innings.

Jose Guillen had three hits and three RBI, and Yuniesky Betancourt had two hits and two RBI. for Seattle. Raul Ibanez and Kenji Johjima drove in one run each for the Mariners, who had a three-game winning streak broken.
