NHL: San Jose 2, Detroit 1

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 1 (UPI) -- Jonathan Cheechoo's third-period power-play goal Monday carried San Jose to a 2-1 victory over Detroit in Game 3 of their Western Conference semifinal series.

Cheechoo's deciding tally came with 6:41 left in the game, sending the Sharks into Game 4 Wednesday in San Jose with a 2-1 edge in the best-of-seven series. Ryane Clowe also scored and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 29 shots for the Sharks.

Nicklas Lidstrom netted Detroit's lone goal on the power play in the first period. Dominik Hasek made 25 saves in the Red Wings' losing cause.
