MLB: Minnesota 9, Tampa Bay 1

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., May 1 (UPI) -- Sidney Ponson pitched seven innings and Michael Cuddyer drove in two runs Tuesday as the Minnesota Twins defeated the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 9-1.

Ponson (2-3) allowed five hits and one run.

Luis Castillo had three of Minnesota's 17 hits and scored twice. Torii Hunter doubled in the seventh inning to extend his hitting streak to 16 games. Joe Mauer and Jason Tyner each had three hits with an RBI for Minnesota.

Edwin Jackson (0-4) gave up five hits and six runs over 1 1/3 innings to remain winless after five starts this year.

Delmon Young homered for Tampa Bay, which lost for the fourth time in six games.
