Troy Smith finally drafted on Sunday

NEW YORK, April 30 (UPI) -- Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith of Ohio State Sunday was among the notable players selected during the second day of the 2007 NFL Draft.

He was selected by Baltimore with the 174th overall selection at the end of the fifth round.

In his senior season, the Cleveland, Ohio native threw for 30 touchdowns and 2,542 yards with just six interceptions while guiding the Buckeyes to the BCS national title game against Florida.

Observers say his stock plummeted after he completed only 4 of 14 passes for 35 yards as OSU was trounced by the Gators, 41-14.

Despite his fall, Smith is the first Heisman winner ever drafted by the Ravens.

"I told him, 'You're going to walk in that locker room and you're going to be a nobody, because we have some Hall of Famers,'" said Ravens' general manager Ozzie Newsome. "He relished the opportunity."

Big-name quarterbacks not chosen were Florida's Chris Leak, Boise State's Jared Zabransky and Pittsburgh's Tyler Palko.
