BUFFALO, N.Y., April 27 (UPI) -- Thomas Vanek's third-period goal Friday gave the Buffalo Sabres a 3-2 win over the New York Rangers in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series.

Chris Drury scored in the first 30 seconds of the third, as Buffalo overcame a 2-1 deficit.

The win gave Buffalo a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

New York built its lead on goals by Martin Straka in the first period and Paul Mara late in the second.

Those goals sandwiched one by Buffalo's Brain Campbell at 10:58 of the first.

Drury and Campbell also had one assist each, and Ryan Miller stopped 31 of 33 shots for the Sabres.
