Nadal again wins on clay

BARCELONA, Spain, April 26 (UPI) -- No. 1-seeded Rafael Nadal rolled through another clay-court victory and advanced to the quarterfinals of the $1 million Open Seat tennis tournament in Spain.

Nadal has lost just nine points while serving during his first two matches in this week's tournament. On Thursday he routed Thomas Johansson 6-1, 6-4. He will take a 69-match clay-court winning streak into Friday's quarterfinal pairing with Potito Starace.

Starace upset eighth-seeded Juan Ignacio Chela 6-4, 7-6 (12-10) in his Thurday match.

Third-seeded Tommy Robredo, who played Nadal in the Open Seat final last year, was ousted Thursday, dropping a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 decision to 15th-seeded Agustin Calleri.

No. 2-seeded Nikolay Davydenko used two tiebreakers in getting past Filippo Volandri 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (8-6) and fourth-seeded David Nalbandian was a straight-set 6-4, 6-3 winner over No. 16 Carlos Moya.

Also Thursday, Oscar Hernandez toppled sixth-seeded Jarkko Nieminen 6-1, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3; David Ferrer defeated Boris Pashanski 6-2, 7-5; and 12th-seeded Guillermo Canas dropped Pablo Andujar 7-5, 6-3.
