Grojean advances in Casablanca tennis

CASABLANCA, Morocco, April 25 (UPI) -- Unseeded Sebastien Grosjean upset No. 6 Arnaud Clement Wednesday and moved into the quarterfinals of the Grand Prix Hassan II tennis tournament in Morocco.

Grosjean rallied for a 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 victory on the clay courts of the Complexe Sportif al Amal in Casablanca. He next meets Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo, who defeated Thierry Ascione 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) in his Wednesday match.

Third-seeded Julien Benneteau moved into the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Michael Russell and No. 5 Marc Gicquel won a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Nicolas Mahut. Benneteau and Gicquel will also be paired off in Friday's quarterfinals.

Friday's other matches will be determined in third-round play Thursday when top-seeded Dominik Hrbaty goes against Slimane Saoudi and No. 7 Nicolas Massu plays Albert Montanes.
