Detroit Lions ink three free agents

DETROIT, April 25 (UPI) -- The Detroit Lions Wednesday signed three free agents -- cornerback Keith Smith and wide receivers Marcus Robinson and Cliff Russell -- to one-year deals.

The signings address team needs three days prior to this year's NFL Draft.

No dollar amounts were disclosed.

Smith will be playing in his fourth season since Detroit drafted him in the third round of the 2004 draft out of McNeese State.

He has appeared in 46 games, primarily as a special teams player, and has 80 tackles, one interception and two fumble recoveries.

Robinson will join the Lions after spending the past three years in Minnesota. In 2006, the former South Carolina product scored once on 29 catches for 381 yards in 10 games.

Russell, who played at Utah, has appeared in 21 NFL games and has five receptions for 45 yards with NFL stops in Washington, Cincinnati and Miami.
