Collison returning to UCLA

April 25, 2007 at 9:02 PM   |   Comments

LOS ANGELES, April 25 (UPI) -- Sophomore guard Darren Collison of UCLA announced Wednesday he would return for his junior season and not declare for the upcoming NBA draft.

The 6-foot-1 inch native of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., averaged 12.7 points per game last season, and led the Pac-10 Conference in steals with 2.23 per contest.

He was the best defender on a team noted for its overall defense.

A source told United Press International late Wednesday that Collison's stock was not very high when compared to other underclassmen who have decided to forego their remaining college eligibility, including forward Kevin Durant of Texas, center Greg Oden of Ohio State, North Carolina freshman forward Brandan Wright and junior guard Chris Lofton of Tennessee.
