NEW YORK, April 24 (UPI) -- Endy Chavez' two-out drag bunt in the 12th inning Tuesday allowed Shawn Green to race home with the winning run as the New York Mets beat Colorado 2-1.
The inning began when Green drew a leadoff walk. He then moved to second on Jose Valentin's sacrifice bunt and went to third when a balk was called on pitcher Ryan Speier (0-1).
David Newhan struck out and Jose Reyes was intentionally walked before Chavez' bunt got past Speier and rolled between first and second as Green scored.
Joe Smith (1-0) worked two-thirds of an inning for New York to register his first win of the season.
Damion Easley hit a two-out, game-tying solo homer in the bottom of the 10th, a half-inning after Colorado took the lead with the first run of the game.
