
CASABLANCA, Morocco, April 24 (UPI) -- Top seeds Dominik Hrbaty and Jose Acasuso won their first-round matches Tuesday at Grand Prix Hassan II tennis.
The Slovakian Hrbaty defeated Austrian Alexander Peya 7-6 (9-7), 6-4, while the Argentine Acasuso beat Frenchman Nicolas Devilder 6-4, 6-4.
Hrbaty, who reached the finals here in 2004, will face Algerian wild card Slimane Saoudi in the second round.
Third-seeded Frenchman Julien Benneteau defeated Portuguese qualifier Frederico Gil 7-6 (7-2), 3-6, 7-6 (7-5). Two other seeds advanced as No. 7 Chilean Nicolas Massu beat Argentine Sergio Roitman 6-2, 6-3, and No. 8 Frenchman Paul-Henri Mathieu beat Dane Kristian Pless 6-3, 6-1.
Massu was last year's Casablanca runner-up to Italian Daniele Bracciali.
