Tursunov, Stepanek upset in Barcelona

BARCELONA, Spain, April 23 (UPI) -- Ninth-seeded Russian Dmitry Tursunov and 10th-seeded Czech Radek Stepanek were first-round losers Monday at the $1 million Open Seat 2007.

Spaniard Oscar Hernandez defeated Tursunov 6-4, 6-4, and Romanian veteran Andrei Pavel came from behind to beat Stepanek 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Argentine Agustin Calleri avoided an upset by beating Spaniard Marc Lopez 7-5, 5-7, 6-3.

Former Australian Open champion Thomas Johansson defeated Korean Hyung-Taik Lee 6-3, 6-3, and American Vincent Spadea beat Russian Teimuraz Gabashvili 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
