
SAN DIEGO, April 19 (UPI) -- Eric Byrnes and Orlando Hudson combined for three RBI in the top of the 12th inning Wednesday night as Arizona beat San Diego, 5-2.
Byrnes hit an RBI single to break a 2-2 tie, and Hudson followed with a two-run double.
Hudson had two hits and three RBI; Conor Jackson drove in a run; Byrnes had two runs and two hits; and Scott Drew had one hit and scored twice for the Diamondbacks, who snapped a two-game slide.
The winner was Tony Pena (1-1); and Jose Valverde earned his seventh save of the season.
Mike Cameron and Khalil Green each drove in a run; and Brian Giles went 4-for-6 with a run scored for the Padres, who have lost three of their last four games. The losing pitcher was Mike Thompson (0-1). San Diego starter David Wells gave up two earned runs and just three hits in seven innings.
