TULSA, Okla., April 17 (UPI) -- Scott Sutton Tuesday agreed to a five-year contract extension to remain men's basketball coach of the Oral Roberts University Golden Eagles in Tulsa, Okla.

Sutton, the son of long-time college coach Eddie Sutton and the brother of Oklahoma State Coach Sean Sutton, recently wrapped up his eighth season at Oral Roberts with his second consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament.

The new deal has him under contract with Oral Roberts through the 2013-14 season.

"We believe Scott Sutton is one of the finest coaches in the country and we want him as part of the Oral Roberts family for a long time," said Oral Roberts Director of Athletics Mike Carter. "Scott has been an outstanding ambassador for ORU in his eight seasons as head coach and we look forward to his continued leadership of the basketball program."

The Golden Eagles are 144-102 under Sutton, with 86 of those wins coming in the last four seasons. He is second on the school's all-time victory list behind Ken Trickey's total of 214 wins.
