MLB: NY Mets 8, Philadelphia 1

PHILADELPHIA, April 17 (UPI) -- Moises Alou hit his first two home runs of the season Tuesday, powering the New York Mets to an 8-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.

Tom Glavine (3-1) gave up one run on six hits and five walks in six innings.

The loss spoiled the season debut for Freddy Garcia, acquired at the Winter Meetings from the Chicago White Sox. Garcia (0-1), who started the season on the disabled list, gave up three runs on eight hits with a pair of walks and six strikeouts over 4 2/3 frames.

Ramon Castro entered the game for Paul Lo Duca and finished 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI. Lo Duca was hit in the hand by a foul ball in the bottom of the third inning.

Carlos Beltran also drove in a pair of runs, while Jose Reyes and Jose Valentin had two hits each for New York.
