NBA: New Jersey 104, New York 95

NEW YORK, April 16 (UPI) -- Vince Carter had 29 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists Monday to lead the New Jersey Nets to a 104-95 victory over the New York Knicks.

Carter's triple-double gave the Nets their third straight victory to move within one-half game of idle Washington for the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

The Nets will close out their regular-season schedule Wednesday as host to Chicago.

Bostjan Nachbar added 19 points for the Nets and Mikki Moore chipped in 15 points.

Steve Francis scored 26 points for the Knicks, who lost their fifth straight game and for the 13th time in their last 15 games. Mardy Collins added 23 points and 10 rebounds.
