BUFFALO, N.Y., April 14 (UPI) -- Rick DiPietro had 32 saves Saturday as the New York Islanders beat Buffalo, 3-2, to even their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series, 1-1.

DiPietro -- who was suffering from post-concussion syndrome and had not seen game action since March 25 -- got clearance from doctors Thursday to return to the ice.

The Isles got goals from Marc-Andre Bergeron, Trent Hunter and Bruno Gervais. Tom Poti had two assists.

Dmitri Kalinin and Toni Lydman scored, and Ryan Miller stopped 29 shots for the Sabres -- who failed to score in five power-play chances.

Game 3 is set for Monday at Uniondale, N.Y.
