
LOS ANGELES, April 14 (UPI) -- Derek Lowe gave one earned run and seven hits in eight innings Friday night as the Los Angeles Dodgers blasted San Diego, 9-1.
Luis Gonzalez homered and hit an RBI single; Nomar Garciaparra had two hits and two RBI; Rafael Furcal had one run, two hits, and two RBI; and Brady Clark had two runs, two hits, and one RBI for the Dodgers, who scored all of their runs in the second, third, fourth, and fifth innings on the way to their third win in a row.
Furcal missed the first nine games of the season with a sprained left ankle, and was activated from the disabled list prior to this game.
San Diego got its only run in the fourth on a double play groundout by Khalil Greene.
Losing pitcher David Wells (0-1) was torched for five earned runs and eight hits in 2 1/3 innings.
Reliever Mike Thompson gave up four runs in 3 2/3 innings.
