
ARLINGTON, Texas, April 12 (UPI) -- Ben Zobrist went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored Wednesday as Tampa Bay edged the Texas Rangers 6-5.
Ty Wigginton had two hits and one RBI, while Carlos Pena had two hits, including a two-run homer. Delmon Young and Akinori Iwamura also knocked a run each for the Devil Rays, who snapped a four-game slide.
Winner James Shields (1-0) allowed five runs -- four earned -- and five hits in seven innings with one walk and eight strikeouts. Al Reyes earned his second save.
Michael Young hit two homers and drove in four runs for the Rangers. Kenny Lofton had one run and two hits, and Ian Kinsler added a solo homer for Texas, which had won its previous two games.
Losing pitcher Robinson Tejeda (1-1) yielded six earned runs and 10 hits in five innings with one walk and four strikeouts.
