Roddick out of Clay Court Championship

HOUSTON, April 9 (UPI) -- American Andy Roddick, the top seed at the $416,000 U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships in Houston, was forced to withdraw Monday due to a hamstring injury.

Roddick, a three-time Houston champion and two-time runner-up, suffered the injury to his left leg in a match last month. He aggravated the hamstring Friday in his Davis Cup win over Spain's Fernando Verdasco.

Roddick reached five straight finals in Houston before Germany's Tommy Haas beat him in last year's quarterfinals.
