ATLANTA, April 7 (UPI) -- Jon Sim scored in the sixth round of the shootout Saturday night, as the Atlanta Thrashers beat Tampa Bay, 3-2, to wrap up their best regular season ever.
Ilya Kovalchuk scored and Marian Hossa had two assists, as the Thrashers finished with four wins in their last five games to take the Southeast Division with a franchise-best 100 points on the season -- and head for their first post-season appearance.
Kari Lehtonen made 34 stops for Atlanta, which will meet the New York Rangers in the first round of the playoffs.
Vaclav Prospal and Filip Kuba scored and Johan Holmqvist made 41 saves for the Lightning, who travel to New Jersey for a first-round series with the Devils.
