MLS: Colorado 2, D.C. United 1

COMMERCE CITY, Colo., April 7 (UPI) -- Herculez Gomez and Roberto Brown scored goals Saturday afternoon as the Colorado Rapids beat D.C. United, 2-1, in the MLS 2007 season opener.

Terry Cooke assisted on both goals, as Colorado won its first opener in 12 years in the league.

Luciano Emilio scored for D.C. United, which lost in the debut of Coach Tom Soehn.

The Rapids played before their first sold-out home crowd despite a game-time temperature of 30.
