MLB: N.Y. Mets 11, Atlanta 1

ATLANTA, April 6 (UPI) -- Jose Reyes went 3-for-6 with four RBI and two runs scored Friday night, as the New York Mets ripped Atlanta, 11-1, spoiling the Braves' home opener.

Reyes hit two triples and highlighted a six-run eighth inning with a two-run single for the Mets, who have begun the new season with four straight wins.

Carlos Delgado drove in two runs, and Paul Lo Duca had three hits and an RBI for New York, which is off to its best start since going a franchise-best 5-0 to begin the 1985 season.

Winning pitcher Oliver Perez (1-0) yielded one earned run and five hits in seven innings with no walks and six strikeouts.

Jeff Francoeur hit a solo home run and loser Mark Redman (0-1) gave up five runs and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings for the Braves, who swept a season-opening three-game series at Philadelphia.
