
WASHINGTON, April 6 (UPI) -- Micah Owings allowed only one hit in five scoreless innings Friday night as the Arizona Diamondbacks pounded the Washington Nationals, 7-1.
In his major league debut, Owings (1-0) walked three batters and struck out six.
Alberto Callaspo went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored, and Chris Young belted a three-run homer and had four RBI for the Diamondbacks.
Conor Jackson went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Chad Tracy had two runs and one RBI for Arizona, which has won two straight.
Ryan Church hit his second home run of the season, while Ronnie Belliard, Felipe Lopez and Kory Casto each had singles for the Nationals.
Loser Jerome Williams (0-1) surrendered six hits and five runs -- four earned -- with two walks and four strikeouts in six innings for the Nationals.
