"I'm going to be at Baylor for as long as they'll have me," said Mulkey, who led the women's basketball team to a 183-53 record in the past seven years with six NCAA Tournament appearances and a 2005 national championship.

"Loyalty and commitment are big with me. They have shown a commitment to me. And in turn, my loyalty to them is for quite a long time now."

"Kim Mulkey is a nationally recognized leader in collegiate women's basketball and an outstanding ambassador for Baylor University," Baylor president John Lilley said in a statement.

"In her seven years as coach, she has created a winning tradition in women's basketball that has brought positive recognition to Baylor. She is a person of integrity who is committed to success at the highest level of competition. We expect that Kim will be with Baylor for a long time."
