Nationals' Logan placed on disabled list

WASHINGTON, April 3 (UPI) -- Washington outfielder Nick Logan was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday because of a foot injury suffered on Opening Day.

Logan injured his left foot while crashing into the outfield wall in the fourth inning of the Nationals' 9-2 loss Monday. An MRI examination indicated a foot strain, which will keep Logan out of the lineup for two to three weeks.

Logan joined Washington last Sept. 1 and played in the 25 of the team's final 29 games of the season. He hit .300 with 13 runs scored.

Washington recalled outfielder Kory Casto from their minor league affiliate in Columbus, Ohio, to fill Logan's spot on the roster. Casto, who had an impressive spring training, was cut from the major-league roster Sunday.
