Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

PHILADELPHIA, April 2 (UPI) -- Edgar Renteria tied the game with an eighth-inning homer and won it with a two-run blast in the 10th Monday as Atlanta downed Philadelphia, 5-3.
Renteria's 10th-inning shot came against Ryan Madson, making a winner out of Bob Wickman.
Wickman pitched the ninth and Chad Paronto came on to get the save. Brian McCann had three hits for the Braves, including a two-run homer. Starter John Smoltz gave up three runs on eight hits while striking out seven over six innings.
Renteria had more than one homer in a game for the sixth time in his career.
