COL BKB: Florida 84, Ohio State 75

ATLANTA, April 2 (UPI) -- Lee Humphrey led a three-point barrage Monday night that carried Florida to its second straight NCAA basketball championship -- 84-75 over Ohio State.

The Gators became the first team since Duke 15 years ago to emerge as champions two years in a row. They added the basketball title to the NCAA football crown they won three months ago, that championship having also been captured in a title showdown with Ohio State.

Florida made 10 of 18 three-point attempts and had a long-range shot ready each time the Buckeyes inched closer.

Al Horford, without a three-point shot, scored 18 points. Humphrey had 14 while making four of seven from long range. Taurean Green (16 points) and Corey Brewer (13) both contributed three three-pointers.

Greg Oden paced the Buckeyes with 25, but his teammates could make just three of 22 from three-point range.

Florida led by two late in the first half when Humphrey, Brewer and Green all hit three-pointers in a span of 79 seconds, giving the Gators a 33-22 advantage.

Ohio State spent the rest of the night looking for a big run and Florida had an answer each time.
