COL BKB (W): Rutgers 59, LSU 35

CLEVELAND, April 1 (UPI) -- Matjee Ajavon scored 16 points Sunday, as Rutgers beat LSU, 59-35, to earn its first trip to the NCAA Women's title game in Cleveland.

The Scarlet Knights defense held the Lady Tigers to the lowest offensive output ever in a women's Final Four. Louisiana Tech previously held the dubious record -- 44 points against Tennessee in the 1987 championship game.

Rutgers -- which started the season 2-4 -- will play for the title Tuesday night against the winner of Sunday's other semifinal game between North Carolina and Tennessee.

LSU star Sylvia Fowles was limited to just five points and seven rebounds against Rutgers. The Lady Tigers advanced to the Final Four despite adversity surrounding by the March 7 resignation of Coach Pokey Chapman, reportedly over suggestions of improper conduct with at least one player.
