EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., March 30 (UPI) -- Martin Brodeur made 14 saves to earn his 45th win of the season Friday night as the New Jersey Devils topped the Philadelphia Flyers, 3-1.

New Jersey had a 2-0 lead after second-period goals by Michael Rupp and Travis Zajac.

Philadelphia came within 2-1 at 8:53 of the third period when Simon Gagne broke through, but Jay Pandolfo scored later in the third to give New Jersey its two-goal victory.

The Devils, who have clinched a playoff berth, have won three of their last four games. New Jersey moved into a tie with Pittsburgh atop the Atlantic Division.

Both clubs each have 100 points with four games remaining.

Martin Biron stopped 21 of the 23 shots he faced for the Flyers, who have dropped five of six and are out of the playoff chase.
