Virginia receiver suffers knee injury

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., March 29 (UPI) -- Virginia wide receiver Kevin Ogletree likely will miss the 2007 season because of a torn right-knee ligament.

The injury occurred Friday during UVa's second spring practice.

"He didn't see himself as being hurt (when the knee was injured)," said Coach Al Groh during a conference call. "I had been concerned about it since I saw it. When it didn't flare up, I got to thinking, 'Maybe this one will fool me.' Unfortunately, it turned out to be an accurate visual diagnosis."

The diagnosis was made during an MRI Wednesday.

"He tried to make a cut and (the knee) just gave out on him," Groh said. "When I saw it, I thought to myself, 'Uh oh, I know what that looks like."

The junior from St. Albans, N.Y., was the team's leading pass receiver last season with 52 catches for four touchdowns and 582 yards.

It is the third straight season that a Virginia wide-out has suffered a season-ending injury.
