MIAMI, March 29 (UPI) -- Ivan Ljubicic and Guillermo Canas were straight-set winners at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami Thursday, setting up a quarterfinals showdown Friday.

Ljubicic -- last year's runner-up and this year's seventh seed -- beat 23rd-seeded Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela, 6-3, 7-5. The Croat fired 14 aces and broke Chela's serve three times.

Canas, of Argentina, beat No. 6 Spaniard Tommy Robredo, 7-6 (7-5), 6-1.

Ljubicic is heading for his fourth semifinal in seven events this season. He's reached three finals in 2007, winning just one.

Canas reached the quarterfinals after shocking Roger Federer Tuesday.

The other semifinal match Friday will feature 10th seed Novak Djokovic of Serbia vs. No. 12 Andy Murray of Britain.
