NHL: Florida 5, Tampa Bay 2

TAMPA, Fla., March 28 (UPI) -- Florida defeated Tampa Bay, 5-2, Wednesday, lifted by Nathan Horton's two goals and an assist.

The Panthers halted a two-game losing streak.

Olli Jokinen posted a goal and two helpers for the Panthers, while Bryan Allen had a goal and an assist. Steven Weiss also scored and Ed Belfour stopped 27 shots.

The victory gives 12th-seeded Florida 80 points, now just six behind Montreal, which holds the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference.

Brad Richards and Filip Kuba tallied for the Lightning, losers in five of their last seven. Marc Denis made 14 stops in the loss.
