NHL: Toronto 6, Carolina 1

TORONTO, March 27 (UPI) -- Chad Kilger had two goals and Andrew Raycroft 26 saves Tuesday as the Toronto Maple Leafs pounded the Carolina Hurricanes, 6-1.

Yanic Perreault had a goal and an assist for the Maple Leafs, who have won three of their last four games.

Toronto and Carolina each have 84 points and are in a three-way tie along with the New York Islanders for the ninth place in the Eastern Conference.

Eric Staal scored the lone goal for the Hurricanes. Cam Ward gave up five goals on 19 shots for the Hurricanes, who had a three-game winning streak stopped.

John Grahame took over for Ward midway through the second period and made 12 saves.
