NHL: Montreal 6, NY Rangers 4

MONTREAL, March 27 (UPI) -- Alex Kovalev scored two goals and Saku Koivu had four assists Tuesday as the Montreal Canadiens defeated the New York Rangers, 6-4.

Andrei Markov had two assists for the Canadiens, who have won five in a row. Steve Begin, Michael Ryder, Tomas Plekanec and Mark Streit all scored for Montreal.

Jaroslav Halak had 28 saves.

Michael Nylander, Paul Mara, Thomas Pock and Marek Malik all scored for the Rangers, who had a five-game win streak end.

Henrik Lundqvist allowed four goals on 15 shots in nearly half of the contest. Steven Valiquette took the loss in relief, stopping eight-of-10 shots.
