Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

NEW YORK, March 27 (UPI) -- Darris Nichols sank a three-pointer as time expired Tuesday to lead West Virginia into the NIT final with a 63-62 victory over Mississippi State.
Nichols' goal capped a 14-point comeback for the Mountaineers (26-9), who scored 20 points off 16 Bulldog turnovers. Nichols led the way with 17 points and Frank Young added 16 points and seven rebounds.
Mississippi State's Dietric Slater led all scorers with 18 points and eight rebounds, Jamont Gordon added 11 points and eight assists and Charles Rhodes had 10 points and 14 rebounds for the Bulldogs (21-14).
The NIT had its four top seeds in the Final Four. West Virginia will play the Clemson-Air Force winner in the finals.
