Georgetown assistant moving to Binghamton

VESTAL, N.Y., March 26 (UPI) -- Georgetown University assistant coach Kevin Broadus will become the head coach of the Binghamton University basketball program.

However, Broadus will not join Binghamton until Georgetown's season ends. The Hoyas qualified for the NCAA Final Four and will play in the national semifinal Saturday and perhaps the championship game April 2.

Broadus has been an assistant at Georgetown for three seasons. He spent three years as an assistant at George Washington and also was on the staffs at American University, the University of the District of Columbia and Bowie State University.

"I look forward to coming to Binghamton," Broadus said. "I believe the program is untapped with all the support it has -- both in terms of fan base and resources. We should be gunning to win the America East Championship -- that's my goal."

Broadus, 43, replaces Al Walker, who stepped down after seven seasons with the Bearcats. Binghamton, which moved up to the Division I level in 2001, finished the 2006-07 season 13-16.
