Vania King advances at Miami tourney

MIAMI, March 21 (UPI) -- Vania King defeated China's Tiantian Sun to advance to the second round of the Sony Ericsson Open, where she will meet top-ranked Justine Henin.

The American teenager King beat Sun 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 en route to her meeting with Henin, who won consecutive titles at the Dubai and Doha tournaments.

Also on Wednesday, American Jill Craybas beat Roberta Vinci of Italy 6-3, 2-6, 6-0. Michelle Larcher de Brito of Portugal downed American Meghann Shaughnessy, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3). Nathalie Dechy won a battle of French players by beating Camille Pin 6-1, 6-3.
