NBA: Portland 92, New York 86

NEW YORK, March 22 (UPI) -- Brandon Roy's 24 points led the Portland Trail Blazers as they upended the New York Knicks 92-86 Thursday night at Madison Square Garden.

The victory opened a four-game road trip for the Blazers, who won for the fourth time in their last dozen games and are four games away from the final playoff berth in the Western Conference.

Jarrett Jack scored 15 points for Portland and Jamaal Magloire 14 plus 16 rebounds. Portland played without leading scorer Zach Randolph, who missed the game due to bereavement leave.

Portland's win overshadowed a 31-point performance by New York's Nate Robinson, who shot a sizzling 8-of-9 from three-point territory.

It also made a late charge by the Knicks an exercise in futility. New York went on a 10-2 spurt in the fourth quarter that cut Portland's lead to 86-84; however the Blazers responded with six straight points to put the game away.
