Mauresmo sidelined by appendectomy

PARIS, March 21 (UPI) -- Amelie Mauresmo, No. 4 in the world in women's tennis rankings, will be out about a month followed an appendectomy.

Mauresmo, in an entry on her Web site, said a sonogram ordered because she was suffering from abdominal pains indicated an inflamed appendix and doctors performed an appendectomy on Sunday.
