Davydenko, Gonzalez upset in Pac Life

INDIAN WELLS, Calif., March 15 (UPI) -- Fourth-seeded Nikolay Davydenko and No. 5 Fernando Gonzalez were ousted in fourth-round play at the $3.285 million Pacific Life Open in California.

Davydenko was anything but sharp in falling 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 to 13th-seeded Andy Murray and Tommy Haas, seeded ninth, dumped Gonzalez 6-3, 6-2 during play Wednesday.

Murray and Haas draw each other in the tournament quarterfinals.

In other matches Wednesday, 12th-seeded Novak Djokovic earned his fourth quarterfinal berth in six tournaments this year with a 6-3, 6-1 rout of Julien Benneteau. His next-round opponent will be No. 14 David Ferrer, who was a 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 winner over Carlos Moya in his fourth-round match.

The tournament quarterfinals get under way Thursday with second-seeded Rafael Nadal goes against unseeded Juan Ignacio Chela and No. 3 Andy Roddick meets eight-seeded Ivan Ljubicic.
