COL BKB: Boston College 84, Texas Tech 75

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., March 15 (UPI) -- Sean Marshall had 15 second-half points in pacing the Boston College Eagles to an 84-75 victory over the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the NCAA tournament.

Boston College's Tyrese Rice made six free throws in the final 42 seconds as the Eagles improved to 21-11 on the season. The Eagles advance to a second-round game Saturday against Georgetown (27-6), which defeated Belmont 80-55 in its first-round game.

Texas Tech's season ends at 21-13.

Texas Tech led 58-54 after the Red Raiders' Jarrius Jackson hit a three-pointer but Boston College ran off seven consecutive points, with Marshall's basket capping the spurt for a 61-58 lead with 11 minutes to go.

The Red Raiders made one more charge, getting to 72-70 with about six minutes left but Boston College scored six of the next seven points. Rice added a key field goal down the stretch and was able to put the game away with 6-of-6 free throw shooting in the game's final minute.

Rice ended up with a game-high 26 points, Marshall totaled 21 for the game and Boston's College's Jared Dudley added 19 points.

Texas Tech got 21 points from Martin Zeno.
