CHICAGO, March 14 (UPI) -- Chicago Bears All-Pro linebacker Lance Briggs may have played his last game with the NFC champions.

The former University of Arizona product has spent his entire three-year NFL career with Chicago, which made him a third round draft pick in 2003.

He was designated the Bears' franchise player on Feb. 16, and has said he will not play for the team again because the team will not re-negotiate his contract.

Being named the team's franchise player, the 6-foot-1 inch, 240-pound Briggs is guaranteed to be one of the five highest paid players at his position and will make $7.2 million.

He says that is not enough.

"I am now prepared to sit out the year if the Bears don't trade me or release me," Briggs told Fox Sports.com. "I've played my last snap for them. I'll never play another down for Chicago again. Their offer was unacceptable."

The two-time Pro Bowl choice has 445 tackles (364 solo), six interceptions, and 3½ sacks.
