NHL: Boston 6, Detroit 3

DETROIT, March 11 (UPI) -- Marco Sturm had two goals and an assist Sunday afternoon as Boston skated past the Detroit Red Wings, 6-3.

Boston rallied from a 2-1 first period deficit when Sturm and Petr Tenkrat both scored in the second for a 3-2 lead at the second intermission.

A three-goal third period followed with Patrice Bergeron, Chuck Kobasew, and Phil Kessel all scoring.

Marc Savard had three assists, Brandon Bochenski had two assists, and Tim Thomas stopped 35 of 38 Detroit shots for the Bruins, who snapped a three-game losing streak with a rare win at Detroit.

Robert Lang, Jiri Hudler and Nicklas Lidstrom all scored once, but Dominik Hasek was beaten six times on 25 shots for the Red Wings, who had won four of their previous five games.

Detroit played its sixth straight game without its leading scorer, center Henrik Zetterberg, who is sidelined with a back injury.
